This is a translation for your convenience. Only the German version is legally binding.
1. Controller
The controller responsible for data processing on this website is:
Jörg Müller, Racing Connects
Bruno-Stiebitz-Straße 24, 01904 Neukirch (Lausitz), Germany

2. The key points
- This website does not set cookies and does not use any analytics or tracking tools.
- Fonts are loaded from our own server. There are no connections to Google or other third-party providers.
- We process personal data when you visit the website (server logs), when you contact us, and to maintain our business contacts in motorsport (section 5).
- To place volunteer marshals and officials, we also process details of their role and licence (section 6).
3. Hosting
This website is hosted by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. When you visit the website, the host processes technically necessary data on our behalf. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with STRATO.
Server logs
Each time you visit, information transmitted by your browser is recorded automatically: IP address, date and time of access, page visited, referrer URL, browser and operating system used. This data is technically required to deliver the website and to ensure its security. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Under the data processing agreement with STRATO, these visitor logs are stored for a maximum of seven days.
Encryption
For security reasons, this website uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by “https://” in the address bar of your browser.
4. Contact form and contact by email or phone
If you contact us via the contact form, by email or by phone, we process your details (name, email address, your choice of who you are and what you are looking for, and optionally company/team, phone number and your message) in order to handle your enquiry. Details from the contact form are sent to us by email and are also stored in our internal, password-protected contact management system, which is likewise operated by STRATO in Germany. Only the people handling your enquiry have access to it.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your enquiry relates to a contract or to pre-contractual measures, and otherwise our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We delete your enquiry once it has been fully dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply. If your enquiry leads to a collaboration or an ongoing contact, we will continue to store your contact details for that business relationship.
5. Business contacts from other sources
Racing Connects is a motorsport network. For this purpose we also store business contact details that we did not receive directly from you, and we may contact you about a possible collaboration.
- Which data: name, organisation and role, contact details such as email, phone and mobile number, the postal address, where applicable the addresses of your public profiles such as LinkedIn, Instagram, your own website or an introductory video, and our notes on our exchanges with you. Details of marshal roles and licences are covered separately in section 6.
- Where from: publicly accessible sources such as entry and participant lists of motorsport events, websites of teams, series, organisers and federations, professional networks such as LinkedIn, and personal contacts in motorsport. For every record we note where the details came from and when we last reviewed them.
- Why: to maintain contacts in motorsport and to initiate collaboration, for example in sponsorship, consulting, training or events, and for voluntary club and federation work in motorsport.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in maintaining business contacts and initiating business (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Who has access: only Racing Connects, in the internal, password-protected contact management system hosted by STRATO in Germany. We do not pass the data on to third parties. STRATO uses sub-processors for technical operation; where this involves processing outside the EU, it takes place on the basis of the EU standard contractual clauses.
- Map preview: For a stored address, our contact management system can show a map. The map only loads once we explicitly open it, and the address is then transmitted to Google Ireland Limited. As long as the map is not opened, there is no connection to Google.
- How long: We do not delete contacts merely because there has been no exchange for a longer period. After 24 months without activity at the latest, we review whether storage is still necessary and lawful. If there is no longer any networking, placement or business purpose, we delete the data. Statutory retention obligations remain unaffected.
Objection: You can object to this processing at any time without giving reasons (Art. 21 GDPR). A short message to jmueller@racingconnects.de or a reply to our message is sufficient. We will then delete your data and not contact you again.
6. Marshals, officials and licence data
Motorsport events are run by volunteer marshals and officials. In order to put suitable officials in touch with organisers, we store details of their role and licence.
- Which data: name and contact details, the official's role such as steward, clerk of the course or secretariat, licence type, licence status, licence validity, the field of deployment and, where required for unambiguous identification, the licence number.
- Where from: publicly accessible sources, in particular the supplementary regulations of motorsport events, in which the appointed officials are listed by name.
- Why: to identify suitable officials and to initiate possible appointments at motorsport events.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in organising and placing suitable volunteer officials for motorsport events (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We store only what is necessary for that purpose.
- Not published: We use licence numbers and licence details internally only, to verify qualifications. We do not publish them and do not pass them on to third parties.
- How long: We review necessity and accuracy regularly, and for records inactive over a longer period after 24 months at the latest. Details that are no longer required or demonstrably incorrect are deleted or corrected.
Objection: You can object to this processing too at any time without giving reasons (Art. 21 GDPR). A short message to jmueller@racingconnects.de is sufficient.
7. Your rights
You have the right at any time to:
- access the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
- have inaccurate data rectified (Art. 16 GDPR)
- erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) and restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
- object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21 GDPR)
- lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR)
An informal message to jmueller@racingconnects.de is sufficient.
